Who We Are

At Sonrise you’ll find a vibrant, welcoming and diverse Jesus centred church, filled with grace and care, engaged with our community.

Our Mission

MISSION – Carrying the hope and purpose of Jesus to those far from God.

We dream of a welcoming, thriving, prayer-filled church of all nations, a centre for encountering the Holy Spirit through excellent worship with the supernatural move of God, where people experience freedom in every area of life.

We dream of a church with a spirit of excellence where all generations find belonging because they are seen, known, valued, loved & forgiven, where families and the next generation are actively embraced and equipped.

We’re dreaming of ministry training for the next generation, meeting community needs, and a sending church to equip people for missions and church planting.

The Bible is the inspired, infallible, authoritative written Word of God. (2 Tim. 3:16-17; 2 Pet. 1:20-21).

In the eternal existence of one true God, in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Gen. 1:1; Gen. 1:26; Deut. 6:4; Matt. 3:16-17; John 17:5).

In the Saviour of people, the Lord Jesus Christ, conceived of the Holy Spirit born of the Virgin Mary, very God and very man. (2 Tim. 1:8-10; Luke 1:35; Matt. 1:23; Col. 2:9; Heb. 1:3; Phil. 2:7-8; Heb. 2:17).

In the creation, test and fall of man, as recorded in Genesis, and in man’s total spiritual depravity and inability to attain to divine righteousness apart from a work of God. (Rom. 3:23; Eph. 2:1-3; 1 Pet. 3:18; John 6:44).

That forgiveness of sin and eternal life is freely offered to all by our Lord Jesus Christ. Salvation of sinners is by grace through faith alone, in the perfect all sufficient work of Christ who died on the cross for our sins, was buried and rose again bodily the third day for our justification. (John 3:16; 1 John 2:2; Rom 10:13; Rom. 3:21-26; Luke 24:6-7; 1 Cor. 15:3-4).

In Water Baptism of believers by immersion in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ (Matt. 28:19-20; Acts 2;38; Acts 10:47-48).

In baptism with the Holy Spirit as an experience subsequent to salvation with the scriptural evidence; namely, speaking in tongues. (Acts 1:8; Acts 2:4; Acts 10:44-46; Acts 19:2-6).

In the gifts of the Holy Spirit as enumerated in the books of Acts and the Epistles (Acts 2:4, Acts 14:8-10, Rom. 12:6-8; 1 Cor. 12:4-11, 28’31; Eph. 4:11-12; 1 Pet. 4:10-11)

In the Lord’s Table, as a memorial for believers. (1 Cor. 11:23-28).

In divine healing as practiced throughout the New Testament. (John 9:1-7; Acts 3:1-10; Acts 14:8-10; Mark 16:15-20).

In the eternal life of the believer and the eternal punishment of the unbeliever. (Matt. 25:46).

In the Spirit-filled life. The Holy Spirit is the catalyst for sanctification and seeks to produce His fruit in the believer’s life as their minds are renewed, and they are conformed to the image of Christ (2 Thess. 2:13. Gal. 5:22-23; Rom. 12:2)

In the bodily ascension of the Lord Jesus Christ to heaven, His enthronement at the right hand of God and His personal, visible and imminent return for His church. (Acts 2:30-33, Acts 1:9-11; Acts 7:55).

In the sanctity of marriage, as a lifelong exclusive commitment between one man and one woman. (Gen 1:26-28; Gen 2:18-25; Matt. 19:4-5; 1 Cor. 7:1-2).
